Buying and selling cars for money is the most obvious and probably the easiest vehicle to flip but, if there’s a market for it, you can flip it. For the sake of our readers, I’m going to keep my suggestions limited to vehicles but buying and selling things for money extends to pretty much any asset. Let’s look at some of the best vehicles to flip for profit.
Utility Trucks -
Buying and selling utility trucks is one of the most expensive vehicles to flip but, the profits you can make are proportional. It’s possible to make $30,000 on a $40,000 investment. If you are buying and selling utility trucks, the typical units sold are bucket trucks, forestry trucks, pressure diggers, digger derricks, and boom trucks. Pressure diggers typically cost $100,000 per unit but can be sold for much more. Bucket trucks can be purchased at lower prices in the $25,000 range and up. Utility trucks are usually purchased at auctions or from corporate fleets.
Motorcycles and ATV’s -
You can buy some awesome motorcycles at low prices. Flipping motorcycles and ATV’s is very similar to flipping cars for profit. The knowledge of motorcycles has to be top-notch and it’s best if you know the laws for licensing in your state. If you’ll have to add things to make it legal, make sure to consider that in your purchase price. Buying a stock motorcycle and customizing it to sell for profit is the best way to make the most money. The demand for custom bikes is higher than ever and if you’re good, you can turn it into a full-time business. I buy motorcycles off of Craigslist and other online classifieds. Be cautious of the market and the season when buying and selling. Buying in the Winter and selling in the Spring is the best.
Boats -
Buying boats and other watercraft to sell for profit is probably the trickiest. Unless you go to the lake or ocean to test drive it, you won’t know for sure how reliable it is or if it will even work. Buyers are skeptical of buying boats unless they can get it at an incredible price, you should do the same when buying. Like any flip, it’s best to buy at an incredibly low price and leave room for negotiating a lower price when you go to sell it. I’ve bought boats and jet-ski’s online but only in certain circumstances will I do it again. Depending on the market, and the season, you’ll be able to make a profit.
